Event: EarthxInteractive by EarthX
Founded in 2011 EarthX is a nonprofit organisation that promotes environmental awareness and hosts the largest environmental expo, conference and film festival in Dallas (Texas, USA). It began as Earth Day Dallas, an outdoor event, which later grew into Earth Day Texas and has now become EarthX. Divided in EartxInteractive and EartxConference the event is set to bring in 500 speakers and 850 exhibitors for this 2019 edition.
“Viewers are able to educate themselves in a way that truly allows them to put themselves in these environments and oftentimes sparks the drive to affect change,” says EarthxFilm President Michael Cain.
EarthxInteractive, the interactive sub-division of the sustainability-focused EarthxFilm festival, is the world’s largest eco-interactive program that employs immersive technology to raise awareness for global environmental issues.
Founded in 2017, the theme for this year’s edition is ‘Water for All’ and they will present more than 40 cutting-edge virtual, augmented and mixed reality experiences, and exhibits and workshops from top creators and environmental organizations to push the boundaries of storytelling. The lineup includes narrative, documentary, and innovative experiences from such prominent creators as the godmother of VR Nonny de la Peña’s Emblematic Group (Last Whispers), Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow (The Protectors), NASA (Emmy-winner Cassini’s Grand Finale), Biome (A Day in Djuma, The 500) , National Geographic (Free Solo, The Okavango Experience, Hydrous Immerse), Wevr (TheBlu), The Atomic Tree (Global Oneness Project), and Google Daydream Impact (Ocean to Plate, The Female Planet) among many others.
EarthxInteractive 2019 is premiering also 360 Labs’ 360-degree film Tree Huggers, that transports viewers to the peak of Portland Oregon’s tallest tree to experience the view from the top of a towering 246’ Douglas Fir in Forest Park, and The Elephant Keeper and will be held during EarthX, from April 26 to 28, 2019 in Dallas (Texas, USA).
