Pierre Huyghe exhibition, Serpentine Gallery London, 3 October 2018 – 10 February 2019

Pierre Huyghe, one of the world’s leading conceptual artists, known for creating complex immersive ecosystems, will present a major new exhibition at the Serpentine this autumn. Unsound Festival: Presence, several locations Krakow, 7 – 14 October 2018 

The experimental arts and music festival in Krakow returns once again, this editor with the theme of Presence.  With a reflection on new technologies, PRESENCE doesn’t urge an impossible and nostalgic retreat to a time before mediated existence but poses the question of how to forge something progressive with our current situation. With a finalised lineup names include Kode9, Drew McDowall,  Blawan, Marie Davidson, Amnesia Scanner, Jlin performing with the Wayne McGregor studio, Alva Noto, Terry Riley, Ewa Justka, Lucrecia Dalt, Tomoko Sauvage among many others. Reshape18 competition and Forum, Fira de Barcelona, 16 – 18 October 2018 

Reshape design competition returns for its 4th edition, this time exploring Sensing Materialities, where the body is the central player. The competition has two categories, the wearable technologies and the product design. The winners will be announced during the forum, an annual event where designers and expert have the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas upon the fashion innovation industry.  Moreover, Reshape organised the Reshape Exhibition to showcase the selected projects from the annual competition. Modern Body Festival 2018: ALIEN BODIES, The Hague, 26-28 October and 2-3 November 2018

Modern Body Festival examines the nature of our current existence through thematic editions that curate experiences – physical, visceral, immersive and intimate. We seek the modern body within the new worlds that emerge when different artforms intersect, collide, and modulate each other. We focus specifically in the open field that exists between artforms – new media, dance, music, installations, interactive art, performance, theatre, architecture, robotics, bio-art, video art. STATE Studio Opening and Field Experiments exhibition, State Studio Berlin, 27 October 2018 

STATE Festival is a breeding ground for a dynamic new scene of curious minds that bridge disciplines in order to explore and challenge the boundaries of present knowledge and shape ideas for our future. The team behind it are now opening a physical space, STATE studio which aims to be a public gallery, showroom and event space in central Berlin, and a  place for creative collisions between science, art and technology. They will inaugurate the space with Field Experiments, an exhibition that observes artistic interpretations of upcoming technologies and speculative prototypes in their environment. Emilia Tikka will be displaying her work on CRISPR/dCAS9 genetic technologies. More info.

A video art exhibition presenting the work of 14 artists and collectives who explore topics related to hormones. It raises crucial questions about how society influences and regulates gender identity and looks closely at the way in which developments in medicine have impacted our lives. More info

 

AGM after-hours party, Somerset House Studios London, 5 October 2018 

An after-hours party like no other as the Somerset House Studios artist community opens its doors for a one-night takeover of the former Inland Revenue building. With  Kode9, DJ Beatrice Dillon, Marija Bozinovska Jones featuring MBJ Wetware, an AV performance from Recsund (Quantum Natives), Hannah Perry and Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard. More info

 

Yayoi Kusama, Victoria Miro London 3 October – 21 December 2018

THE MOVING MOMENT WHEN I WENT TO THE UNIVERSE, a major exhibition of new works by Yayoi Kusama, will take place across the Wharf Road galleries and waterside garden. The exhibition will feature new paintings, including works from the iconic My Eternal Soul series, painted bronze pumpkin and flower sculptures, and a large-scale Infinity Mirror Room, created for this presentation, Kusama’s twelfth exhibition at the gallery.
